North American Bengali Conference 2009
The North American Bengali Conference (NABC) is an
annual conference held in a North American city to celebrate the
Bengali sensibility, as a microcosm of the greater Indian
experience. In its 29th year since its
inception in 1980, NABC continues to create lasting impressions and
positive connections between South Asia and North America.
The conference returns to Silicon Valley after a decade, and is
expected to attract thousands of attendees from across the globe.
It features a best in class lineup of programming in the
performing, dramatic and cinematic
arts and a multi-track Business Forum. NABC 2009 Silicon Valley
will honor the past, present and future generations of Bengali
culture - rooted in its strong ethnic heritage yet drawing
inspiration from a connected and pragmatic global order
Branding Bengal in Silicon Valley
Bengal and its capital Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) and
once the capital of British India, has always been noted for
progressive thinking, global attitude and intelligentsia. It is
also known globally as the home of poet Rabindranath Tagore, noted
economist Amartya Sen, filmmaker Satyajit Ray and famous
humanitarian Mother Teresa.
Access to a well developed port, proximity to a greater Asia, the
presence of an expanding local talent pool provides incredible
opportunities of growth in Manufacturing, Bio-Technology and the IT
Sector. Strong
government support and infrastructure investments make Bengal an
attractive business destination today.
NABC 2009 Silicon Valley connects Bengal with the San Francisco Bay
Area and San Jose.
